Good Enough

I don't know if you can really call this thing smart? But maybe my definition of smart technology is too muchHere're the features as far as I could find:- It is in fact a humidifier, and it does blow out water. It comes with a couple of those aroma pod things but I've not used them. The mist it sprays isn't as fine as I think I thought it'd be, and the floor around it tends to get a bit damp after use.- It has no button on the device itself, nor does it come with a remote. If you don't have a phone, or you lose your phone, you're out of luck. Every mechanic seems to be on the phone.- The app is intuitively designed, and it allows you to turn it on from quite a distant from what I've tested. It can connect up to smart home devices like Alexa or Google Home if you have them, it can be put on a schedule, it displays the humidity levels in your room and what it should be at.- It has lights that I haven't seen at night but are probably a bit bright, but it comes with a sleep mode that can turn those off.All around it is a humidifier, it does what every other humidifier can do and then some. I got this product for free, and I don't think I would've bought it myself if I were to try and find my own humidifier at this price. It's good for bigger rooms I'd imagine though, and I'm not sure of the pricing on those sorts of devices. I just use this for my bedroom.

A FIVE STAR, STRAIGHT A+ HUMIDIFIER

Long ago I decided that I would rather turn into a desert lizard than have to cope with, or attend to, another humidifier. Then my son started getting nose bleeds in our home in Park City, Utah, where the humidity level doesnt much exceed 18%. Its dry. Lizard skin dry. The doctor was mystified that I hadnt already bought a humidifier, several in fact, for the entire house. Something about this Dreo caught my attention. It had modernist lines, and hardly any parts that would be difficult to clean. I crossed my fingers and ordered it.I am beyond surprised at how well this Dreo humidifier works at how well the app works. Nowadays I prejudge every product by: its packaging, its instructions, and its app. The Dreo app is a dream. You download it by focusing your phones camera on the QR code on the Dreo manual. Then you follow the prompts to connect the Dreo to your wifi (including your password). The entire process took under three minutes, without exaggeration. Then I filled the tank and turned on the humidifier.Just check out the video. The Dreo is beautiful. Its not an ugly tank with ugly filters that need to be washed. In fact, the Dreo doesnt come with a demineralization filter at all. In my opinion, it should. Youll extend the life of the humidifier if you use a filter, plus, youll have to wash the machine less often.I went on Amazon and found that you can buy 3 demineralization filters for $18. I think Dreo shouldve thrown in at least one filter, if only to get you in the habit of using a filter. According to the carton in which the Dreo came, theres also something called a clean mist cartridge, which prevents the growth of impurities in the tank. I looked on Amazon and couldn't find such a cartridge. I went to dreo.com and couldnt find the mist cartridge there either. But now Im on the hunt.I was tempted to deduct a star from the humidifier because Dreo didnt include a filter; but in all truth, the humidifier is too good to get even a B+ score. Its a straight A+ humidifier.

Slow shipping, but worth the wait

For Amazon, the shipping was slow. It was 9 days before I received this humidifier. But I will say, it was totally worth the wait. I love everything about this from the nightlight that doubles as a humidity level in room indicator (which, by the way, can be turned off if you'd like) to the little cubbie in the back of it where you can add essential oils to freshen the smell in your room, to the completely noise free running (no kidding, I can't even hear it running at all). It's got a timer where you can set it to run in 12 hour incriments, with three power levels. Two things to be aware of: first, and this has nothing to do with the humidifier really, it's just because my dog is stupid, but my silly K9 is freaked out by this thing. He just sits looking at it, barking the entire time. Hopefully, he'll get used to it and cease this ridiculous behavior because I really do love this humidifier. Secondly, in the base of this is a styrofoam piece that sits over the float. Nowhere in the instructions does it tell you to take that piece out before using the humidifier. I made the mistake of not taking it out and quickly found out that the water will run out so fast you'll have a huge mess before you realize what's going on (like I did). So make sure you take the styrofoam off the flat in the bottom before you put the water tank on!Outside of those two minor things, this humidifier is great. I initially thought it might be priced a bit high, but after getting it, setting it up and running it, I'd pay this price any day for a same brand/model replacement. Love it.

Another quality product from Dreo

I have multiple Dreo Heaters for our home. My wife gets cold, so the space heater is required, being I do not want to crank the house up to 75 in the winter. We have been pleased with our Dreo products, so this seems like another good product. Our home becomes quite dry in the colder months and I like the idea of the smart system, as we always forget to turn our current unit off in our bedroom. I have only used this product to test that it functions, but I am really pleased. The unit has a nice digital screen to illustrate the humidity level. Another reviewer mentioned that the unit does not have buttons, that is false. There are buttons on the digital display. So, if you lose your phone, you are not out of luck. Having your phone allows you more settings, and the app is easy to connect and use. No more forgetting to turn off the humidifier when away. While in use, the unit will illuminate with various colors. Each color signifies the current humidity level in your room. This feature is really cool. Plus the ambient light is nice and not too bright. A simple glance and you know if your room is dry, wet, or in the comfort zone. This is customizable, as well, so you can adjust according to your desires. While the unit is small, I do not think that is any reason to knock the unit. Anyone ordering can see the size and volume of the unit. This unit does provide hours of operation with the given capacity. With the added smart feature, your will not be wasting water.Overall, this is a solid item. Everything is easy to use and manipulate through the app. I would and have recommended this item to others. The price is not too bad for what you get. I paid around $40 for our current "dumb" humidifier, and all it has is a know to turn it off/on and adjust the level of steam. For the additional costs, this unit blows mine out of the water.

I Trust This Smart Humidifier for Wellness and Comfort. But Buy FIlters Separately!

I've been using humidifiers from a leading brand for many years. Here's what I learned. The most crucial thing is that you have to be able to clean them thoroughly and know when they need to be cleaned and to reduce the white dust generated by the humidifier. if this doesn't occur, people can feel unwell, at a minimum This sounds like a a duh kind of comment, sure. But if I set my humidifier to get the humidity in the room to 50%, how many hours did it actually run? Unless you are using a humidifier that you actually turn on and off and just runs without sensing the humidity in the air, you don't really know.Second, it's important to reduce the level of "white dust" generated by the humidifier. White dust is PM2.5 PARTICLES BEING DUMPED INTO THE AIR FROM THE HUMIDIFIER. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS HUMIDIFIER DOES NOT COME WITH A FILTER. THEY MUST BE PURCHASED SEPARATELY. So, if you're only reading this far, and you're thinking of getting this, plan on buying the filters at the same time.CLEANING and CLEANING ALERTSThis is a smart humidifier and it actually tells you in the Dreo app how long it has run in hours and when it needs to be cleaned. Even more importantly, the humidifier itself is easy to clean. The little parts come apart and then snap back in, so its easy to clean in and around the nooks and crannies. (Dreo has a video that shows you how to do all this...) The humidifier comes with a small brush, but I have an old handheld travel Waterpik like device that I just use for cleaning. Works great.SCHEDULING AND COMFORT SETTINGSHere's the another thing I like about this humidifier. Through the app, I can set a schedule to monitor the humidity level between 6pm and 8pm and if the humidity is below the threshold I set, the humidifier will run at the mist level that I set, until the upper threshold of my humidity range is set. And it will keep checking between 6pm and 8pm so when we get to sleep, the room is comfortable. It's great that I can actually set a humidity "comfort range" (low and high humidity %) and not just a threshold, which is what my old humidifiers used. And there is another reason scheduling is important. Every humidifier I have ever used leaves some dust, even when using a new filter. Though it might be just a tiny bit, I know there will be some dust. Because the humidifier is placed very close to where I sleep, I prefer that the humidifier not run while I am sleeping, just to avoid putting more dust in the air that I will inhale. If I had a spot in the room which was further away, this wouldn't bother me. But, to reitnerate, this humidifer does not come with a filter. They are sold separately through Amazon by Dreo. So plan on getting a set of filters for this before placing this in a child's room (or anyone who might have breathing sensitivities). But the point is, with scheduling even with the filter, I always know the room will be comfortable with minimal if any dust in the air when I go to sleep.DREO APP AND ALEXA CONTROLThe Dreo app is easy to use, configure and install. It's one of the better small appliance apps I have used. I had to register with an email address and I installed the app on my iPad. I think almost everything can be controlled by the app, and it works well. It also provides data back to the app from the device itself. Gotta love feedback loops. Very cool.Once I had the device configured with the Dreo app, I linked my Alexa account with the Dreo app (also easy, wizard in the Dreo app), and then enabled the Dreo skill in Alexa (the Alexa app prompt you to enable the Dreo skill).Once the the Dreo app and Alexa are linked and the Alexa skill is enabled, I could control the humidifier (on/off) through Alexa.OPERATION AND LIGHTINGOperation is easy, and humidifier has three "mist level" settings (only cool mist), and in addition to the options discussed above including humidity comfort range, scheduling, you can activate "sleep mode" which turns off all the lighting of the humidifier. The humidifier it totally and completely silent. I can only tell it's running because I can sometimes see the mist. (I run the humidifier in sleep mode all the time because I control it with the app).Last, there is one other cool feature which I haven't seen before and I really like, There is a light on the humidifier tank which illuminates in different colors (yellow/green/blue) to give one a "one glance" view of the room's humidity (roughly low/med/high). This ambient light is controlled through the sleep mode (which also turns off the panel display and sound) so if you're confused about how to activate or deactivate it, check that setting,If you do NOT want to use the Dreo app, the round control panel in the front is intuitive, at least for basic functions.TLDRStill here? It's good. If you care about wellness and /or like smart appliances, this is a good one. I really like it a lot. But if you decide to buy it, get the filters at the same time to avoid t...
